Doll

For my Child Counseling class we had to make an art piece about our experience doing therapy with children. I've had a lot of countertransference during my internship and it has forced me to look at parts of my past that I (intentionally) forgot about. I guess this doll represents myself when I was a kid. I was bullied for several years and childhood was really hard on me because of that. On the other side of the hood are the names I used to be called at school, as well as wads of crumpled paper. I didn't want to show that side though because it's a bit too personal. The hood is removable, representing how I've shed that part of my life; although those experiences are still affecting me to some extent.

visual case

I'm really bad at keeping this blog going since I became a student therapist... This is a piece of art I did in response to a client I see at my internship site. I am currently interning at a Catholic grade school. The main problems I encounter there are: bullying, anger, Asperger's Syndrome, and familial problems. This piece was done in watercolor, tea, ink, acrylic, and pen.
